AWARE Finale?
in a very much "democratic" manner.
Few things to note...
First...actually i have a better idea on how to settle the issue, we do it the WWE style
steel cage match
ladder match
hell in a cell
royal rumble
queen of the ring, pick your choice ladies.
Second...democracy? Fair voting?
The system and ideal of democracy and fair voting are totally fine. Its the people that screw it up
In statistics we always need to identify the population, same goes for voting.
This incident has taught me...if you can't make the population to support you, you make your supporters BECOME THE POPULATION. Its just a simple paradigm shift
Third...the incident seem so long ago...because our media has not report it for a few days. They have been busy with Salamat, whose news of capture has provided the best distraction for swine flu and the AWARE saga. Technically shouldn't news of a supposedly deadly flu virus that threatens to kill billions be more important than a terrorist who again supposedly has plans to conduct attacks on Singapore? If Its news of escape I do agree its news-worthy, but his arrest? Just one artucle will do man. Is there even a need to go to his hide-out, go to his kampung, go see the prawn crackers he was frying?
The media. its fucking with our heads
admin stuff
I must
go for medical check-up
And photo taking for smart card
Mission 1:
The service supposedly started at 830, I reached at 845, there were already 15 people ahead of me. So wait and wait, check my eyes, check my height, check my weight, take my x-ray, take my urine, take my heart-rate, take my blood pressure, touch my abs.
Thats all
the whole mission took 3 hours
Mission 2:
Have to purposely go to Cisco HQ for phototaking, thought its some high security mission since its a photo for public service smart card, such that owing one will make me Ethan Hunt or something. The transport there is long, tedious and costs money man. And the whole shoot?
Sit down on a lousy field-stool , in front of a old-fashion mounted digital camera for 5 seconds and I'm done.
The whole mission costs me $3 and 2 hours. When I guess I can just send them my soft-copy passport photo?
Think there's a conspiracy somewhere...If one whole fucking batch of civil servants all spend the money travelling there, the earning for ministry of transport will be enough to cover the bonus for their "outstanding performance".
P.S: You know recently this swine flu shit and our SMRT or LTA whatever shit was so proud to announce their precautionary measures on TV?
One things was to open all windows when the bus has a rest of at least 2 hours at the interchange for airing purposes.
Fuck shouldn't it have been done all along? Instead of just leaving the air-con on and leaving comsumers to bear the utility costs.
Cheebye I think can be CEO of LTA, half the pay, double the efficiency.
Eh no wait I'm not qualified.....because.....
I will be looking after commoner and peasants too much and won't make effort to carry balls of those "shan dian xia"

swine flu, media , distractions
- Taliban, Pakistan at loggerheads over peace deal
- Nepal in turmoil, Maoists threaten street protests
- 29 killed in wave of attacks in south Afghanistan
- Typhoon death toll in Philippines climbs to 25
- 44 killed in attack on wedding party in Turkey
They are constantly talking about how the virus killed many many people about 80 years ago and how it might have a repeat?
SO you telling me all the health scientists have not had any breakthroughs for the past 80 years?
DO they know that a missile from US or Middle East can just easily kill twice as many people?
Those bloody world health scientist, I guess they are paid millions...so from the SARS saga what the fuck have they been doing? And so now this virus has been out for 1 week and they still can't create a vaccine? Can we hold their pay till they create a cure then?
I have a theory: that its "them" who release the virus, so they can have more research funds. Or the vaccine is already created, but withhold to boost the sale of Dettol, thermometers and masks, which might happen to be their sponsors.
Simple: Just like Bill Gates and the Microsoft windows theory mar.
Its the media: they fucking around with our heads, distracting us away from the real problem. We should be worrying about global warming, depleting natural resources rather than an economic recession, or if our senior minister has chicken pox.
Gail was asking me if this flu virus is really that serious since she doesn't read/watch the news. I really don't know if I should envy her as she's free from all these mental abuse.
X and X+1
Came to the realization that such numbers do not exist for all n.
Proof:
WLOG suppose X is odd and prime, then X+1 must be even and thus cannot be prime.
If X is even, trivial.

Mathematicians with Asperger's
Over the course of the weekend, I found myself reading an interesting interview with Mark Haddon, writer of multi-award winning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. A book that I read during my summer holiday last year (I'm so ahead of the fashion, me), it was enjoyable and told the story of a young boy suffering from Asperger's disease (the details of which can be found at aspergers.com). Despite the obvious mathematical thread within the book, I didn't consider the correlation between it and the condition of the narrator much more until I came to this bit of the interview:
"The ratio of men-to-women Asperger's sufferers is nine to one. And we all know some middle-aged men with undiagnosed Asperger's. Go to a maths department in a university town and the ratio goes up sharply. A friend said: 'This not a book about Asperger's; it's about a young mathematician with behavioural issues. If Christopher was real, he'd go on to have a perfectly adequate place in any maths department, and be surrounded by people not very different from himself."
I was slightly taken aback by this, my instinct being one of wanting to defend those within the maths department in which I reside. However, having read a little more about the condition of Asperger's, and having considered that with respect to the stereotypical image associated with a (male) mathematician, I can see why people draw the parallels between the two states.

Should I be proud? Or should I be scared?

running
Good to know that I can still clear them under our fitness test passing timing.
Just now when I took bus 95 from Buona Vista back to OKR i saw how steep the NUH slope and I was like...
"If I ever come back and run this. I will be walking, crawling, panting and swearing"
