Edelweiss

Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss,Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever.

Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever

A walk in paris

I remembered I was walking along a path in the area in front of Eiffel Tower with Man Chun where there were two street musicians playing on a bench.
Pigeons were gathering around those people throwing grains at them and

a nice cool breeze blew in our direction.

A thought came to me immediately,

I must try my best to let my offspring grow up in such a place, environment.
I do not want him to grow up in a country when before he/she can start speaking properly gets sent to
Pre-nursery + nursery + kindergarten + primary school + secondary school + JC/POLY + university.
That is a freaking 20 years of studying and at the end may not know what he/she wants to do.

I want him/her to studying at a place where the things to do to chill, calm the mind and relax the body is taking a walk in the park, sitting on a bench in the garden.
Not playing computer games and watching TV.

I want him/her to study at a place where if he/she fails a test, the reaction is "great now you have so much room for improvement we have a goal to work towards to now"

Not "You fucking loser you are such a disgrace you should just go jump down now!"

My life

I hate my life
I don't why I spent four years in a world-class university that supposedly claims that it is putting in huge efforts in saving the Earth and yet keeps asking us to print this, print that.
Collection of convo gowns, can't they just key every fucking thing into their electronic database?

and in good sense? Does anyone even remember the "set all rooms at 25 degree Celsius"?
Anyone dares bet with me the temperature of the NUS president's office?

If anyone were to ask me whether I'm going to heaven or hell when I die.
I will say I don't know
But I do know that if i am indeed going to hell

I will already have 24+ years of experience there already.

The troubled god

Let me tell you people a story....

The god of peace is always busy...

He is too busy to look into a mirror....

...and blows his horns everyday...

The god of peace's horns make everyone happy.

The god of peace is always busy.

He is too busy to look into a mirror....

...and scatters magical water everyday...

the magical water creates green mountains...

...ripens crops, and make flower gardens grow.

The god of peace is always busy.

He is too busy to look into a mirror....

and gives everyone a name...

"your name is Otto"
"your name is Hans"
"your name is Thomas"
"your name is....Johan"

Johan gave his hat to the god as a gift in return
the god was very happy...
Because he wanted to see himself in the hat...

he stood in front of the mirror for the first time.

However....

what he saw in front of the mirror was a devil
The devil spoke to him
"...I am you...
And you are me..."

"oh no! No one can live in peace with a devil like this!"
"What should I do?"

So the troubled god......

Do you know what he did?
I figured it out.

loan sharks

So once again I was watching this replay of this channel 8 show

Two loanshark leaders were confronting/having a discussion

One of them said "Hey friend, this is Singapore, It is already so hard for everyone to make money and survive already...."

Can you imagine?

Someone who do not obey the laws finds it hard to survive in Singapore
What about those law-abiding citizens then?

Of course of these are just shows.
Just for show

life vs dreams

I remembered when I was very young the then TCS tried to produce those "tele-movies"

One struck deep inside me and I caught its replay just a week ago.

It was about an insurance agent who has a successful career and a family. But suddenly everything went downhill; he go demoted, his wife was going to jail for child abuse and the child was to be placed in the care of some "ministry"
So the stress from his life got a boiling point, I remember his tripping point was a traffic jam, the scorching heat and noise pollution from the construction that are everywhere in Singapore.
A motorist, who was actually a robber then cut his way and he went all out to chase after him, and in the end manage to grab his gun.
....
So in the final scene when he was surrounded by the police his last sentence was
"how nice it will be if Singapore has four seasons"

life is a box of chocolate(s)

So...sometimes life is so good to you that you can't believe it, but before you know it it has to screw you up again.

So...somehow the math department in NIE requests for our transcript much earlier compared to the other subjects. So I have to pay $5+ for its processing. Only to realize that the last semester's result would not be reflected. Everything was last minute and when I went to OSA to sort it out, the lady at the counter simply directed me to registra office. Which made me question the meaning of their existence? They are simply a "traffic police".
Coupled with lots of administrative matters here and there, inefficient officers and lack of money left me totally tired.

Then two good things happened:
Just when I gave up hope on going into PGDE(jc), my name popped up in the list, which was a pleasant surprise.
The result from the last semester popped up on my transcript after an e-mail and phone call from me.

However I began my "downslide" before I could do anything

I could not log into NIE portal, all the system says is its an invalide userID or password.
I'm having my enchance school experience at a school with tradition, not academic tradition. I need to grow 20cm taller and start having biceps like Wolverine to survive.

learn something new everyday

1) Is 0.1212121212...where the 12s are assumed to continue forever a rational number?

solution: let x = 0.1212121212...
so
100x = 12.12121212...
so
100x-x = 12
99x = 12
x = 12\99 QED

2) If day T is the day of the week today and day N is the day of the week in N days, then
day N = (day T + N)mod7
where Sunday = 0, Monday = 1...

3) If a and b are any integers with b non-zero, q,r are non-negative integers such that
a = bq + r
then
gcd(a,b) = gcd(b,r)
And more importantly, this is the basis for the Euclidean algorithm, a method for finding the GCD of two integers.
Its proof is first showing gcd(a,b) <= gcd(b,r) and then show the other way later. Thus the equality.

learn something new everyday

1 yard = 0.9144 meters = 3 feet

so

1 feet =0.30480m

so I'm 5 foot 7.

1 degree Celsius = 274.15 kelvin = 33.8 degree Fahrenheit
the absolute zero temperature is
0 kelvin = -273.15 degree Celsius = -459.67 degree Fahrenheit

Back

Back
Ready to face a new chapter of my life
Not that looking forward to since I do not know what to expect

Already
I miss attending math lectures, not studying for the tests and exams though

Three weeks in Europe
Depleted my bank
But opened up my eyes

Singaporeans:
Is it really that hard to keep right on an escalator unless you are walking up or down?
Is it really that hard to let alighting passengers get off first before boarding?
Is it really that hard to cover your mouth before sneezing or coughing?
Is it really that hard to make an effort to close up the income gap?
Don't tell me its for economic reasons
"If a country's culture survives, then so does the country"

Quote from someone in Vienna
" Do not worry about thieves and pickpockets here. We have elected all of them into the government, they only steal from taxpayers now"
