pretty/ugly girls

So on Saturday i witnessed something

There's this girl who purposely threw a tantrum to make other people change their plans in order to go along with hers.
All just to please herself

Then i realize,
Fuck man she's one ugly bitch

So i though: is the above phenomenon an "if and only if"
Because if she's one hot babe, there will be dozens of guys waiting to please her and she need not disgrace herself like this to make herself happy isn't it?

Medical certificates

I used to think that only our country's soldiers will fall sick so easily on Mondays and Fridays

Seems that the "moulders of the future of our nation" have this tendancy too

slavery

For those who have been reading soccer news. will agree with me that the hottest news for the past weeks/months have been the Ronaldo transfer saga

one/two things caught my attention
The Fifa president claimed that R is like a modern slave
and straight away gena shoot up down left right
Soccer legend Pele claims that the money ronaldo is earning, how the fuck can he be termed a slave

Bringing this back to myself....
i realize i have been serving at Hua Yi without any pay
no reimbursements for my meals, transport, relief lessons

but i am definitely not a slave, this experience is priceless blah blah blah

overseas experience

For two times chances to go overseas and nua for 3-4 months slipped passed/or was snatched away from me

and according to my celestial calculations, i still have 1 more chance
I'm not going to let anyone drag me down anymore
I'm not going to let anyone obstruct me anymore

nothing is going to stand in my way

things that i learnt

Right finally got the chance to sit down proper without much constraints, get to sip my tea and enjoy the pace of life

something new that i learn

  • studying math in NUS is like someone taking a billiard cue, with spikes, and shaft it up your arse, SLOWLY.
  • They are really a bunch of idiots, can't think, and still like to act-beng
  • Teenagers actually think that wearing ankle socks and thick-edged spectacles are cool
  • There are always people who are out to suck your periods, till the extent that they even memorize your time-table
  • And when "these" people achieved their aim, they behave like some aunties having got a cheap bargain or something
  • p.s: I'm not saying that people guilt of such acts are aunties, but infer anyway you want

4D

hm...over the weekend my father NEARLY struck 4D

he was 1 digit away from the top prize...
1 digit away from 10K

so obviously he was a bit tui....
he though it was so near, yet so far

Being a bit more critical, analytical
i gave it a bit more thought
and realized
it's actually not so near, but quite far

probability of striking top prize is 1/10000?
but the probability of have 3 similar digits is...9/2500 if I'm not wrong

which is 36 times more likely you know
the chances are even lower than buying system 24

no wonder they don't give payouts for striking 3 digits

another fine example of how math thoughts can defy common layman logic
i love mathematics, and meta-mathematics

leader

what makes a good leader?

Results? popular? Good aftermath after your reign?

I say
a leader can never be judged upon short-term results...(1)
a good leader must be flexible, able to change his management style according to the situation, package he is given.
He might be the bastard today, and be the water boy tomorrow, all so to achieve good results

Some people are lucky, they are given tasks and subordinates that suit their ONE AND ONLY management style...and they achieve good results...so are these people "good leaders"?...refer to point (1)

A good leader must also be someone who knows where to get his advice...just look at the long history of China emperors...some cui due to believing in treacherous officers while some prosper due to choosing the right pillars of the state
A good leader must be broad minded, as his/her higher echelon may not like him/her and choose to trust more in someone else (thus skipping the downward chain of command)...but he/she shouldn't be jealous and should still be carrying out his/her task in a professional manner rather than playing politics in order to gain favor
A good leader must be someone who takes all the blame for all defeats, there are no lousy soldiers, only lousy generals.

What's a bad leader?
Basically the contrapositive of all above statements

Given many chances, tasks, assignments, leadership posts...but can't achieve results in every single one of them.
Basically looking at historical track records...
Note: If you were to continue giving such losers tasks and assignments...eventually he/she will make it...and it's not because he/she has improved ok...
Its just a mathematical fact...
win/lose always has some probability attached to it

so you can't possibly LLLLLLLLL... all the way....somewhere there's bound to be some( >1) slotted in....like this
LLLWLWLWLLLL
Realize that L still dominates the above chain and thus this person is still a bad leader...

He/She will also be pointing at other people, things for his/her failures to lead
Blame this, blame that, blame everyone but himself
gain face? or just some inert quality?
Perhaps, maybe those things and people did cause the losses and failures
But it's ultimately the leader's fault for failing to curb those fuck-up-ness in the first place isn't it?

That's all for the day :>
p.s: I'm not sure if you are reading this but please be strong and try to recover fast? I understand that 2 setbacks + 1 disappointment is indeed hard to swallow...
but the force is with you my dear apprentice

thoughts

There are a few kinds of people in the world...mainly the "doers" and the "thinkers"
These two traits are definitely not mutually exclusive and can co-exist together
And if you are neither...you better make sure you are damn talented in something appreciated in order to survive in the modern world

IF you are a pure-doer, you better make sure you have lots of brute force such that people will actually respect you due to your unlimited brute force
IF you are a pure-thinker, you better make sure you have good political flair and persuasion skills so you can have your show being run while staying backstage

People who don't think deep enough, especially when it relates to some sociological entity that they do not physically belongs to anymore, will often carry wrong thoughts and be disillusioned by any lies or acts carried out by...oh wells, actors.
And because of the fact that either they don't think enough or they can't think that deep enough...the lies that they are exposed to stick to them forever and they treat it as some mathematical tautologies
These people...oh well least they have a simple world though they are never exposed to the truth...but people in the past had lived well with the "fact" that the Earth is flat isn't it...
These people...they never see the right in the "wrong" things they hear, see, observed and they never see the wrong is the supposedly right things happening in the abstract sociological entity.

Me? As long as it's something I'm passionate about, i will put lots of thoughts to it, and i would say my brain power isn't that weak ba.
And i definitely won't mind doing the supposedly wrong things so that i can achieve the right things in the end.

the unforgiven sin

hm...today thye heng told me about his friend who is away at university of Waterloo now...
which means this friend of his is away on the dream summer exchange that i had hoped for

I wonder if she got her seat at the first round
or she got her seat because i was literally forced to give up mine
i wonder if MOE allowed her to go because she's a year2, which means she still has 1 year to serve her secondary school attachment (even though by right i can still go serve this attachment after my year4, before i enter NIE)
or is it because she's under the MOE scholarship scheme

either way, I'm reminded of the injustice i suffered...which explains why I'm still awake...

something i learnt today

When during a focus group discussion

the people who are thought to be the most talkative ones should be sitting beside the moderator, while the more passive ones should be sitting directly opposite the moderator.
This move ensures that the active ones get the least attention while the passive ones get the most attention, and will be encouraged to speak up more.
