what makes a good leader?
Results? popular? Good aftermath after your reign?
I say
a leader can never be judged upon short-term results...(1)
a good leader must be flexible, able to change his management style according to the situation, package he is given.
He might be the bastard today, and be the water boy tomorrow, all so to achieve good results
Some people are lucky, they are given tasks and subordinates that suit their ONE AND ONLY management style...and they achieve good results...so are these people "good leaders"?...refer to point (1)
A good leader must also be someone who knows where to get his advice...just look at the long history of China emperors...some cui due to believing in treacherous officers while some prosper due to choosing the right pillars of the state
A good leader must be broad minded, as his/her higher echelon may not like him/her and choose to trust more in someone else (thus skipping the downward chain of command)...but he/she shouldn't be jealous and should still be carrying out his/her task in a professional manner rather than playing politics in order to gain favor
A good leader must be someone who takes all the blame for all defeats, there are no lousy soldiers, only lousy generals.
What's a bad leader?
Basically the contrapositive of all above statements
Given many chances, tasks, assignments, leadership posts...but can't achieve results in every single one of them.
Basically looking at historical track records...
Note: If you were to continue giving such losers tasks and assignments...eventually he/she will make it...and it's not because he/she has improved ok...
Its just a mathematical fact...
win/lose always has some probability attached to it
so you can't possibly LLLLLLLLL... all the way....somewhere there's bound to be some( >1) slotted in....like this
LLLWLWLWLLLL
Realize that L still dominates the above chain and thus this person is still a bad leader...
He/She will also be pointing at other people, things for his/her failures to lead
Blame this, blame that, blame everyone but himself
gain face? or just some inert quality?
Perhaps, maybe those things and people did cause the losses and failures
But it's ultimately the leader's fault for failing to curb those fuck-up-ness in the first place isn't it?
That's all for the day :>
p.s: I'm not sure if you are reading this but please be strong and try to recover fast? I understand that 2 setbacks + 1 disappointment is indeed hard to swallow...
but the force is with you my dear apprentice
